When you want to connect a Desktop Grid (BOINC & XtremWeb) to a Service Grid, you need to connect it to a Virtual Organisation (VO) on that Grid. Here we describe the connection to EGEE. (For other Grids, please contact EDGeS support).

On EGEE, there is a special Virtual Organisation called the EDGeS VO. Your Desktop Grid will be connected to this VO. When you have machines that are on EGEE (or that you want to become part of EGEE for purpose of connecting to your Desktop Grid), you can make them part of the EDGeS VO.

On EGEE a  computer that runs jobs is called a Computational Element (CE). You need to install gLite software on the system. Please have a look at the EGEE website for more information.

Connecting your Desktop Grid

• Preparing a desktop grid to accept EGEE jobs
  Choose this if you are a desktop grid administrator and want to connect your desktop grid to EDGeS to allow EGEE applications to run on your DG
• Connecting a desktop grid to the desktopgrid VO
  Choose this if you are a desktop grid administrator and want to connect your desktop grid to EDGeS to allow your WUs to go to EGEE
