The  EDGeS  Application Repository is designed to assure the security of the Desktop Grids that run the appliactions stay intact when running jobs that are submitted in another Grid and arrive through the EDGeS Bridge.

There are, in fact two, separate Application Repositories:

1. The Production Application Repository is part of the EDGeS production infrastructure. You use it when you want to run an application on the Grid infrastructures.
2. The Test and Validation Application Repository is part of the EDGeS test and validation infrastructure. It is used to test and validate applications. Only validated applications can run on the EDGeS production infrastructure.

The Production Application Repository is used to download trusted and validated applications 

The applications have to be installed by the Desktop Grid operator. The EDGeS  Production Application Repository contains application software bundles that can be downloaded and installed on a desktop grid.

If you are a Service Grid user (an EGEE user) you can dowload the applications from the EDGeS  Production Application Repository for local usage.

The Test and Validation Application Repository is intended to be used by application developers that want to test or develop new applications for the Grid infrastructure. Please contact the EDGeS support team if you want to port an application to the Grid.
